Holy Doors During Jubilee

List of Holy Doors for the Jubilee

Year of Mercy
Holy Doors

“To pass through the Holy Door means to rediscover the infinite mercy of the Father who welcomes everyone and goes out personally to encounter each of them,” the Pope said in the homily during the Mass that preceded the opening ceremony. “This will be a year in which we grow ever more convinced of God’s mercy.” (Pope Francis)

For the first time, too, the Jubilee is focused not only on Rome but also on local places of worship, in keeping with the Pope’s instruction that Bishops open Holy Doors in cathedrals around the world so that the faithful can participate in the celebrations without traveling to Vatican City. The Pope also said prisoners may obtain an indulgence in the chapels of their prisons.

In our Archdiocese, Archbishop Gomez has designated pilgrimage churches in each Pastoral Region. In the San Gabriel Valley the following churches have a designated Holy Door: Deanery 9: Resurrection Parish – Los Angeles (Boyle Heights); Deanery 10 (our Deanery): San Gabriel Mission – San Gabriel; Deanery 11: Immaculate Conception Parish – Monrovia; and Deanery 12: St. Lorenzo Ruiz Parish – Walnut.
