Good morning 6th grade students and parents,
This week finds us quite busy and I thought it would be a good time to check in.
We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day tomorrow with our TK buddies. Students may bring Valentines for their 6th grade friends and TK buddies. We will distribute them between 10:15-11:15 am. Valentine Grams will also be for sale at recess and lunch (for $1). The grams will be distributed at the end of the school day.
As you know, we have a field trip scheduled for Thursday of this week. We will be visiting both the Natural History Museum and the California Science Center. PLEASE send a lunch in a disposable bag for your child. If you would like to chaperone and are up to date on your Virtus certification, please email me. Thank you to Mrs. Mercurio and Mrs. Faenza for joining us on this exciting field trip!
Friday is a teacher workshop day and there is no school. Enjoy your four day weekend!
Finally, we’ve have a significant number of 6th grade students out today, so please instruct your son or daughter to check in on Google Classroom this evening for the subject-by-subject breakdown of what we did today! We look forward to seeing everyone back in school, tomorrow.

Good evening, 6th grade parents.
Today your child should show you their most recent progress report. Please sign and return the report by Friday. Attached to the progress report is an AR summary indicating how many books your child has read in this second trimester. I took a moment to note how many points your child must still read before this trimester ends.
If you have any questions about why your child is getting a particular grade, I’m happy to explain or offer some guidance. You can also check Gradelink to see if there are any outstanding missing assignments or make-up exams in need of completion.
Have a wonderful evening, and we’ll see you at Open House on Sunday!

Good afternoon 6th grade parents and students,
I hope you all enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving. Now, onto Advent and Christmas! We have quite a busy schedule planned in the next two weeks, so I thought I would answer some pressing questions and outline important dates and times, below.
All this week: Please send 6th graders with bottles of apple juice to donate to the Sacred Heart pantry.
Thursday, 12/8: Mass at 8:15 for the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Students should wear dress uniform on Thursday, not Wednesday.
Friday, 12/9: 4th grade presents the Jesse Tree play at 8:15 am in Msgr. Moretti Auditorium. The food donations for Sacred Heart will be blessed and collected at this time.
Wednesday, 12/14: ABVM Christmas Pageant begins promptly at 7 pm. Please have children in their homerooms by 6:30 pm. When picking up your child during/after the pageant, please remember to sign them out. The night of the pageant, 6th graders should wear their Sunday best and they must bring their recorder!
- Boys should wear dress shoes and slacks with a button down shirt. Ties, blazers, vests, or sweaters are optional.
- Girls should wear flat shoes or boots. Since we are ordered by height, wearing any heels the night of the pageant may throw off our lines. Girls may wear any dress or skirt they like, so long as the attire is tasteful. We will be waiting in line outside, and the evening is usually pretty chilly, so if the dress is short-sleeved please send a sweater.
- Finally, students may not wear any light-up jewelry, Santa hats, elf ears, or other novelty costume items on the altar (but they are free to wear them back in class, after the performance)!
Thursday, 12/15: PJ party!!
Friday, 12/16: Mass at 8:15, followed by cookie decorating with TK buddies. Noon dismissal.
12/17/16 – 1/3/17: ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY!!

Good afternoon, 6th grade parents.
If you are scheduled for a conference today or tomorrow, please meet the junior high teachers in the auditorium.
If you were unable to secure an appointment but find yourself concerned about your child’s grades, please reach out to the teacher of that particular subject and we will find a time to meet in the classroom.
Remember, Jog-a-Thon money is due Tuesday!
Halloween is Monday and tickets will be counted and distributed to classes on Friday. If you would like your child to avoid the ticket line, PLEASE send money by tomorrow ($5 should be more than enough).
Tuesday’s Mass will celebrate the Saints and Erin and Gabby will be teaching us about Saint Teresa of Avila. 6th graders will also be doing the readings and petitions on that day.
Finally, please send $5 for 6th grade’s Sunday Service on November 20th if you have not done so already. I will make sure that your contribution gets to Mrs. Montenegro.
Have a lovely day!!

Just a reminder that today you will receive an email with a link to sign up for conferences with your child’s teachers. The conferences will be held on October 26th, 27th, and 28th. Remember that conferences in Junior High are not mandatory. If your child has a C or lower in any subject, please sign up with the teacher of that subject. If you have already been given a group conference time-slot, do not sign up for an additional conference.
Please email me with any questions.
