There will be a box outside our classroom. The items will be blessed at our school Mass and 6th-8th grade will be boxing them up. Thank you!!

Hello Parents,

Check out my Class Newsletter page. I’ll update this page every two weeks with a newsletter that contains information about what your child is learning about in each academic subject. This is a great way to stay informed and to talk with your child. When your child has a test in one of their subjects you can use the newsletter to review concepts and vocabulary.

Thank you,

Mrs. Barako

Mrs. Barako’s Welcome Letter

August, 2016

Dear Parents,

Congratulations, you have a first grader! My name is Mrs. Barako and I will be your child’s teacher this year. Mrs. Gibbs will be our full-time aide. Each year I’m so happy to be teaching 1st grade and I look forward to a fun, productive, and exciting time full of learning opportunities. This is my 6th year at Assumption and my 13th year teaching 1st grade. Also, I am a proud graduate of Assumption, class of ’91! It really has been special being back here as a teacher.

I hope you can all make it to Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 14th. I will be giving you much more information about our class including the schedule & routines, curriculum, academic/behavior expectations, and class/home communication.

We’re starting off with full days of school and we’ll be diving right into the STAR Assessments for early literacy, reading and math Tues-Fri. Please make sure your child is present, on-time, rested, and has eaten a healthy breakfast.

If you have any questions or concerns please email me or put a note in your child’s homework folder. I usually don’t reply to emails during school hours but will reply by the same evening. I will read notes from the folder each morning and reply as needed. Likewise, you might see a note from me in your child’s folder.

I look forward to getting to know your child and helping them achieve their goals this year!
