Hello Assumption Parents!

This is my fifth year as school nurse here at Assumption. One of my primary roles as school nurse is to provide first aid to students who become ill or injured while on campus. I facilitate individual health plans and provide assistance to those students who have special medical conditions.  This can include ongoing conditions such as severe allergy and diabetes or temporary plans for students who have experienced physical trauma such as concussions.

Additionally, I ensure that the school is 100% compliant with State mandated immunization requirements. Each year I conduct vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings for various grade levels.  As part of keeping our staff updated, I provide resources for staff training in CPR and First Aid and make sure that all staff has current certification.  All teachers and staff are also trained in how to use Epi-Pens and Inhaler medication.

As the school nurse, I serve on the Safety committee and am part of updating and practicing emergency disaster drills with teachers and administrators.  I look forward to working with our safety site team once again this year!

This year I have volunteered to work with our wonderful PTO leaders on their theme of gratitude by helping plan staff birthday celebrations!

My husband and I have three sons that we enjoy spending time with doing the following activities:  playing or watching sports, traveling and acting in local theatrical productions.  Just recently, I was a contestant on the game show “Let’s Make a Deal” which airs on CBS in December.

I am affectionately known by the students as Nurse Autrey! Subscribe to my page to receive updates and more details about all health, screening and other important medical topics.
